this week and into the weekend, the Emerald Coast entertainment will continue
with concerts, fireworks, kids’ camps and with an added bonus—Shark Week! Be

Shark Week Fun for the Kids at
the Gulfarium

Join the Gulfarium as they celebrate one of the ocean's most fascinating
creatures with shark-related activities, specials and discounts throughout the

Can
you determine "fin fact" from "fin fiction"? Here's your
chance to learn more about the incredible sharks that live at Gulfarium Marine
Adventure Park! The park’s knowledgeable aquarists will conduct a special,
shark feeding once daily at each of their shark habitats, including:

Shark Fin Scavenger
Hunt
This
zany scavenger hunt will have your kids roaming the park to scout out hidden shark
fins, each containing a fun fact about our finned friends. Turn in your completed
fact sheet for a fun prize!
Aquarium Bounce House
Kids
of all ages can bounce around in the park’s custom, aquarium-themed bounce
house!

Summertime
means letting your heart sing. Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC), a
not-for-profit professional theater company based in Miramar Beach, Florida,
has launched its 2015 summer theater camp series designed with kids in mind. ECTC’s
third annual children’s theater summer series, presented with support from the
Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation, features the following program:
Camp
Broadway (One week, Monday through Friday)
Let
the Broadway rhythm get you! Come act, sing and dance your heart out to popular
Broadway tunes as we learn songs and simple choreography to some of the musical
numbers from Broadway. We'll play improvisation and theater games, too. Watch
out parents, we'll wow you with a performance the last day of camp. Monday
through Friday 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Grades 3 through 10. $150 tuition per child.

During this fantastic and energetic outdoor event, a band
plays for a crowd spanning the grass that the Dugas Pavilion overlooks. The
audience can bring their own food and drinks to enjoy, or they can purchase
them on site. Also, be sure to bring lawn chairs or towels to sit on. Come
ready for a night of upbeat tunes and a spectacular performance that you won’t
forget!

The Red, White and Blue Celebration is
a weekly honoring of a local hero. The celebrations highlight the efforts of
people who go above and beyond to better their community. Enjoy live
entertainment, kids’ crafts, face painting and a vintage WWII aircraft flyover.
The evening is topped off by a spectacular fireworks display over Destin Harbor
at 9 p.m. This week, Avery Hatchett of SEA Chase
Watersports will be honored. Avery’s heroic actions helped save a family from drowning

The Downtown FWB Farmer's Market is
open the second Saturday of every month, beginning in March and continuing
through October. The market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
An array of vendors set up with many different locally grown
and handmade items such as fresh, farm produce and fruit, including Asian
pears, local honey, grass-fed beef, baked goods, fresh eggs, jams, jellies, handmade
soaps and scrubs, and so much more! Feel free to stroll the streets of Downtown
Fort Walton Beach after the Farmer’s Market and check out the local flavor and
southern hospitality. The community offers many unique boutiques, restaurants
and bars, perfect for a Saturday afternoon outing!

Happy Labor Day weekend friends! It’s been a wonderful summer here on the Emerald Coast hasn't it? But, as we all know, all good things must come to an end. Not to worry, the area offers a variety of fun year-round, and we look forward to another amazing summer next year. Multi-day Events
Join the Village of Baytowne Wharf this weekend as they welcome the fall season with their Baytowne Art Walk from 5-10pm, August 31-September 2. This event will showcase exceptional artists from some of the Southeast’s leading galleries. Stroll the streets as you enjoy live music from local musicians and browse a variety of art from these talented regional artists.
The Emerald Coast Convention Center will be hosting the annual Greek Festival from August 31-September 2. Experience the sights, sounds, and flavor of Greece with a wide variety of homemade Greek foods, traditional dance performances, and live entertainment.
Rock your way through the holiday weekend at HarborWalk Village as they celebrate with the Endless Summer Music Fest August 31-September 2. The weekend starts and ends with a dazzling fireworks display over the Destin Harbor on Thursday and Sunday night! The lineup is as follows:

There’s still time to register for this Saturday’s Okaloosa Have A Heart 5k Run/Walk. The course will begin at the 911 Emergency Operations Center and loop around the Northwest Florida State College campus in Niceville. T-shirts will be presented to the first 200 entrants. The Village Green of the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation will be rockin’ and rollin’ with The Best of Rock n’ Roll Labor Day Weekend Concert. Opening the concert will be the popular Emerald Gold band with vocalists Olivia Slater and Amanda Holmes. They will be performing rock n’ roll and Mowtown from the 1950’s to today. Headliner Ron Adams is up next, paying tribute to the King of Rock n’ Roll himself, Elvis Presley. Bring your comfy lawn chair and picnic or purchase dinner onsite prepared by Jim N’ Nicks Bar-B-Q. Admission is $10 per adult and children under 12 are free.

What’s happening on the Emerald Coast
this weekend?
The first
official weekend of summer is upon us, and it is shaping up to be a beautiful
weekend here on the always stunning Emerald Coast. With a wealth of exciting
activities and events happening all weekend long, you can be sure that you and
yours can kick the summer off right with a little time spent along our
glittering shores. Remember, there’s always something happening on the Emerald
Coast. We’ve outlined a few of this weekend’s happenings below, but don’t
forget to check out our “Emerald Coast Weekly Events” blog to find out what
else may be going on.
While you’re out
there having fun, be sure to take lots of pictures and send them to your

Multi-Day Events
Come out for the Emerald
Coast Blue Marlin Classic from June 20-24. This annual event offers something for
everyone. For the angling teams, there are the deep blue waters of the Gulf of
Mexico, red-hot billfish action, and cool green cash. A wide variety of
recreational activities will be offered at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort
and The Village of Baytowne Wharf. The spectacular night time weigh-ins are
held at the Baytowne Marina at Sandestin and are open to the public.
Join the North
Light Yacht Club and Marina for the 2012 Burning
Up the Bayou Fun Run – the ultimate bike and boat run. This two-day event will
kick off with a pre-run social event on June
22, and will be followed by a multi-stop tour of local businesses in
Niceville and Fort Walton Beach by boat or by road on June 23. Stops include L.J. Schooners in Bluewater Bay for a beach
party, Scully’s on the Bayou for a bikini contest, and then back to North Light
Yacht Club and Marina for a Hollywood after-party featuring cocktails, hors
d’oeuvres and a live performance by the Emerald Coast Blues Brothers.
Friday, June 22
Friday evening is a great time to take that special someone out to a delicious dinner overlooking the water.
Saturday, June 23
Head out to the
Fort Walton Beach Landing 10am-7pm for the Latin Salsa Festival, a Caribbean-style music festival featuring
live Salsa music and dancing, Puerto Rican folkloric dancers, Caribbean food
vendors, arts and crafts and souvenirs. Adult and children’s activities will be
available throughout the day. Admission is free but donations are welcomed.
The Reeds Diamond Dash will kick off at
10am at HarborWalk Village in Destin. Take advantage of FREE registration and
enter for your chance to win a $10,000 diamond ring from Reeds Jewelers –
participation is limited so sign up now! During the Dash, teams of two will
answer riddles and complete challenges right from their cell phones as they
follow clues through the downtown area. Win or lose, it sounds like a fun day
