The Annual SOCKS dinner meeting is being held at the Ramada Plaza Beach Resort Ambassador Room. Registration and Social Hour starts at 6 p.m. and the meeting begins at 7 p.m. The guest speaker is to be announced. 52nd Annual Antique Show and Sale

Sinfonia Gulf Coast presents “The Bernstein Beat” on Friday, January 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Destiny Worship Center in Miramar Beach. The performance features Sinfonia’s full orchestra performing several of Bernstein’s works, including the beloved “Symphonic Dances from West Side Story.” Sinfonia concertmaster Mari Thomas will perform the regional premiere of American composer Michael Daugherty’s violin concerto entitled “Fire & Blood.” Jamie Bernstein, daughter of iconic composer-conductor Leonard Bernstein, will host the evening. Destin’s 4th Superhero Bayou, Bay & Back
1-Mile Kids Fun Run, 5K Run/Walk, 10K & Half Marathon sponsored by Shoreline Church

This year's theme is Superheroes, and everyone is encouraged to come in costume!
The 10K and Half Marathon courses are USA Track & Field certified. While all courses are located alongside Destin waterways, the half marathon course yields breathtaking views of the Choctawhatchee Bay, Destin Harbor and East Pass, as it leads you through Destin, along a 4-mile undeveloped stretch of Okaloosa Island, and back. The only requirement is that participants keep pace to meet the 3-hour time limit. After the Award Ceremony, which will take place at the race site, we are moving the Superhero Party over to Fudpucker’s on Okaloosa Island! Enjoy a 50% discount for all Superheroes until 4 p.m. 1-Mile Fun Run participants receive $5 coupons for post-race arcade tokens, redeemable during the Superhero Party at Fudpucker’s on Okaloosa Island only on race day.

7:30 a.m. - Half Marathon begins
8:30 a.m. - 5K/10K begins
10:30 a.m. - 1-Mile Fun Run begins
10:45 a.m. - Award Ceremony begins

Registration
The 1-Mile Fun Run is $20 and is open to ages 12 and under. The 5K and 10K are $30 through Jan. 24 and $35 on race day. The half marathon is $60 through Jan. 24, and $70 on race day. T-shirts are guaranteed for the first 500 registrants. Registration is available at Clement Taylor Park from 6 - 8 a.m. for the 5K, 10K and Half Marathon, and until 10 a.m. for the 1-Mile Kids Fun Run.

8th Annual Destin History and Fishing Museum Gumbo Contest

Destin Community Center will host the event to take place from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Tickets, which include admission to the museum, are $10 in advance and $12 on the day of. Individuals and restaurants alike will offer tastings of their best Gumbo recipes, all with the chance to proclaim theirs as The Best Gumbo in Destin. In addition to the gumbo, up to 60 unique silent auction items will be available, including artwork, vacation stays, jewelry, fishing trips, golf, restaurant gift certificates, a Life’s A Beach gift basket, and more! Flash Flood will perform live music during the event.

Halloween Candy Buy-Back
Dr. Scott Runnels will buy back candy for $1 a pound of unopened candy, up to five pounds, from 8 a.m. to noon at his office, 4399 Commons Drive E #10 in Destin. Candy will be sent to Operation Gratitude to be sent to troops. Soldiers often give the candy to children in local villages. Call 269-0333.

Biophilia Fall Festival
Biophilia Center hosts its Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a haunted trick or treat trail, hay ride, the Science Brothers, Nonie’s Ark Animal Encounters, petting zoo, live music by Mike Whitty, carnival games, harvest produce, bounce house, Abrakadoodle arts and crafts, face painting, Tucker Dukes food truck, Biophilia exhibits, local organizations and more.
